Choosing the right fabric that will aid our core value of protection for high-performance swimwear has always been very important to us at Blood Red. We always aim to be better if not exceed the highest quality when it comes to Blood Red products. The biggest and boldest move for our latest collection is its new fabric. For the last two years we’ve been using Korean-made fabric for our sun protective clothing, this year we made an upgrade by using an Italian Fabric because it delivers an exceptional comfort, perfect fit and support two-way stretch.
Choosing the Right Fabric
Swimwear materials are not an ordinary knit of woven fabric, its main difference from ubiquitous cloth is its fast-drying, ultra-flat, shape retention, excellent UV protection, ultra-chlorine resistant, and pilling resistant, properties. For our 2017-2018 Collection, we’ve chosen Malaga Fabric by Carvico that has been awarded the prestigious XTRA LIFE LYCRA certificate® because of its superiority when it comes to resistance to abrasions and chlorine, defiance to degradation from creams and sunscreens, excellent rated UPF50+ protection, and its hard-wearing coverage that feels as smooth as a second skin.
Malaga and its “80-20 Matt Charmeuse”
Malaga fabric has the composition of 80% Polyamide and 20% Elastane which is the perfect balance between lightness and elasticity. Polyamide and Elastane, more commonly known as a Nylon-Spandex blend, feels light on the skin, has a smooth texture, and is resistant to pilling. It makes your apparel fit perfectly without losing its shape over many years, which makes it one of the most durable fabrics on the market.
