Blood Red® X LAMAVE

We have partnered with the international and Filipino team of scientists and volunteers who make up LAMAVE, (Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines) whose work is dedicated to the conservation of marine megafauna and the Philippine marine environment through scientific research and education. In 2015, we noticed the unique work that they do, and in support of their expedition to the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park in the Philippines, we kitted them out with some Blood Red® gear.

Valuable field testing feedback

Apart from the awesome photos they send back of Blood Red gear in action, the scientists and volunteers of LAMAVE provide valuable field testing feedback on the products that Blood Red provides—sun protective UPF50+ rash guards and leggings, and board shorts for their long days in and out of the water, and waterproof dry bags and pouches to protect their field gear. We use this feedback to improve product lines, or develop new ones, such as the fin-bag collaboration. The latter saw the development and production of a protective fin bag specifically for the extra-long free diving fins that LAMAVE’s scientists and volunteers use when observing and documenting whale sharks, rays, sea turtles, and other marine vertebrates. The fin bags are available to the public, and proceeds from the sales are donated to LAMAVE.

Supporting marine conservation

Since the initial 2015 partnership, Blood Red® is happy to support LAMAVE’s efforts and contributions to marine megafauna conservation through their fieldwork, and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns.
